Krystal Brown - K4 - K5

Mrs. Brown has been married to her high school sweetheart for almost 21 years. They have 2 daughters, Mady is in 8th grade at LACS and Lily is in 12th grade at Sturgis Public. “Teaching has always been a passion of mine and now it’s become a reality. I’m looking forward to learning myself as I teach the younger generation.”

Marty Diller - 1st - 2nd 

Mrs. Diller is a 2001 Lake Area graduate. Upon graduation she attended Minnesota Bible College (now known as Crossroads College) where she studied Christian Education. She felt called back to Michigan where she finished her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education at Glen Oaks Community College. She has been working with Early Childhood Programs since 2006 and has been teaching at LACS since 2008.  Currently she is pursuing Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education degree through Grand Canyon University.

 

Married to her best friend Tj Diller in 2007, Mrs. Diller and her husband enjoy spoiling their 2 nieces and 5 nephews. The couple loves their family and friends and enjoys being with them any time they can. They currently attend Locust Grove Mennonite Church where they are involved with the worship team, VBS, and the young adults!

Hannah Mitchell - 3rd

Beth Peterson - 4th - 5th

Ms. Peterson has been with LACS since 1993 in multiple roles of teaching.  Her current position is teaching the 3rd through 7th grades.

In her personal life, Mrs. Peterson is the mother of 3 grown children – Teresa and twin boys, Adam and Aaron.  She is also

grandmother to 10 year old Amare who was born blind and three grandaughters: 3-year old Haddie and 2-year old twin girls, Avis, & Adelle.  Mrs. Peterson travels to Tennessee and North Carolina as often as possible to visit them.  Her hobbies include watching sports (especially the Detroit Tigers), doing craft projects, reading Karen Kingsbury books, and looking for bargains!

She has called White Pigeon home for the past 32 years and is the volunteer Vice President of the Downtown Association. She attends The Lighthouse Church where she serves on the Church Board.

 

Brenda Wickey - 6th - 8th

 Mrs. Wickey taught at LACS in 1991-95 when the school was first starting, teaching third, fourth and eighth-grade. The students were all wonderful and she has always cherished the memories of those years. She retired from Colon Community Schools in 2016 where she had taught fifth through eighth grade math. She has four grown sons (who all attended Lake Area) and four wonderful daughters-in-law, as well as 12 beautiful grandchildren. 

Gloria Pomeroy - High School

Mrs. Pomeroy has been with LACS for over 20 years.  She began her career here in 1992 after graduating from Western Michigan University with a double major in Education and Math/Science.  Currently, Mrs. Pomeroy teaches 9th - 12th grades.

 

Along with her husband Charlie, Mrs. Pomeroy attends Whole Life Church. She and her husband have been married since 1972. They are parents to two grown daughters Emily, who is married to Dave and lives in Richmond, Virginia, and Sally who is married to Tim and lives in Centreville, Michigan.  They are grandparents to Sally and Tim’s seven children.  Her faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ and is the driving factor in her life and teaching. Mrs. Pomeroy’s hobbies include bear and deer hunting, gardening, sewing, reading, crocheting, and following her husband as he ministers in music to the elderly.  

Karlene King - Art, Music & Yearbook

Mrs. King is a veteran at LACS having been with the school since its inception in 1991. A mother of four children; three of whom graduated from LACS. Mrs. King graduated from Hesston College with an Associate of Arts and Eastern Mennonite College with a bachelor's degree in Art and a minor in Music. After college she worked at Camp Amigo and them GM Litho as a graphic artist. She currently teaches art, music and yearbook. She sees LACS as a great place to teach and impact the lives of children. She takes every opportunity to share the gospel and life lessons with her students.

Mrs. King and her husband Nick attend Firm Foundation Ministries where they lead the Dave Ramsey FPU course. She also teaches children’s Sunday School, serves on the worship team and is part of the vision team. Her hobbies include art, singing, reading, gardening, making quilts and especially enjoying her nine grandchildren. During the summer she is known as the "homemade bread lady" at the Sturgis Farmers' Market.

Jenny Gentry - Office Manager

Ms. Jenny is one of our schools newest additions. Her greatest accomplishments are her 5 amazing children and husband of almost 20 years. While Christian School is a new endeavor on her resume, Christian education is not. She has 15+ years experience in Home Education.  Her favorite past-times are being outside working in the garden, relaxing on a beach or sledding with her kids. She loves God and people and likes sewing, dreaming, planning and laughing. 

 

 

 

Stacey King - Bookkeeper

Ms. Stacey attended LACS from 5th through 9th grade during which time she met her future husband, Nathan King, whom she later married in 2009.  She graduated from Glen Oaks Community College in 2008 with her Associates Degree of Applied Science in Business.  Prior to having children, she worked in the accounting department at Burr Oak Tool Inc. gaining the experience in bookkeeping that she carried over to LACS in 2017.
